Join us on June 16th as the Momentum companies present their innovative ideas to the AimWest community.
Momentum, is a seed stage funding and incubation program that provides initial investments, mentoring and business launch assistance to web entrepreneurs. Momentum was launched last spring as a partnership between The Windquest Group, Pomegranate Studios, and the economic development group Lakeshore Advantage. It has since grown into a collective of entrepreneurs, investors, business professionals, universities, and entrepreneur support organizations – all with a shared vision to retain Michigan’s talent, launch new tech ventures and help cultivate our region’s entrepreneurial community and culture.
45 applications were submitted from across the state. After a rigorous selection process to find the ideas that had the best opportunity for success, 4 companies were selected to be a part of the Momentum 2010 program. The 12 week program which began in May will end with an "Demo Day" where the chosen companies will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to 2nd round investors.
The presenting companies on June 16th:
TerraPerks - A rewards program that motivates households to reduce energy consumption.
e-Simulations - A developer, licenser and host of Web-based, multiplayer role-playing simulations and social e-textbooks for secondary and higher education markets.
Jai Place - A global aggregator of information, products, services, media, and experiences for the Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) market.
Varsinet - A sports blog network dedicated specifically to serving high school sports.
